Many of us have stayed home a lot of because of Covid-19, but it’s time to resume physical activities outdoors because regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health!Β

Exercise, at least 2.5 hours of moderate activity a week, can prevent or delay many of the health problems that can come with age. It also helps muscles grow stronger so you can keep doing your day-to-day activities without becoming dependent on others.

Here are some simple ways to incorporate some physical activity into your weekly routine.Β

  1. Go for a walk and spend time with family: Explore your local park connector or nature parks such as Botanic Gardens, Windsor Nature Park, Jurong Lakeside Garden, or Changi Bay.
  2. Take the stairs if you feel comfortable doing so: Incorporate some exercise into your daily routine or commute by taking the stairs instead of the lift or escalator.
  3. Take up a new hobby: Try gardening at your local community garden, or try swimming to improve muscular strength.Β
  4. Improve your balance: Yoga, qi gong, tai chi, or simple dancing can improve balance. Tune in to Vintage Radio at www.vintageradio.sg, and get grooving with your favourite dancing partner!

Most importantly, make a point to cultivate a sense of enjoyment while making these positive improvements to your life!

The Storytellers

  • We celebrate the many simple acts of kindness and generosity that are often understated, undertaken by individuals such as you and I. We aim to capture the details and deeds of those who are working towards helping others in the community, whose stories would otherwise go untold. Contact Us: info@whatareyoudoing.sg
